Egypt Today: Egypt is working to boost its trade exchange with Tunisia by 15 percent in 2025, aiming to reach $485 million compared to $421 million in 2023.
This initiative was highlighted during a visit by Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, to Tunisia, where he held discussions with his counterpart, Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelfattah.
The two ministers explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including agriculture, food security, tourism, manufacturing, and ICT—areas considered strategic for both nations. They emphasized a shared commitment to building a robust investment environment and expanding economic partnerships that benefit both countries.
According to the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control, Egypt’s exports to Tunisia surged by 30 percent in 2024, reaching $371 million, while imports from Tunisia rose by 47 percent to hit $50 million.
The visit Is part of a broader push by Egypt to strengthen regional economic ties and attract foreign investment. Parallel diplomatic efforts have seen President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi secure $7.5 billion in direct Qatari investments during recent visits to Kuwait and Qatar.
